We have grown into a fantastic hub for triathlon with Chiltern Tri, The Arctic One Foundation and beXtrifit all based at the pool offering a huge range of triathlon activities.
Chiltern Tri Club
Local Triathlon Club, Chiltern Tri are based at the open air pool and train in the pool on Thursday Evenings (7.30-8.30pm in the winter and 8-9pm in the summer). The pool is suitable for wetsuit training throughout the winter due to the low chlorine levels and great for open water practice.
The club have over 100 members and swim three times a week. They also run on Saturday mornings at 9:30am starting from Chesham Moor Gym and Swim.
All of the sessions are suitable for all abilities and if you would like more information, please contact Matt at email@example.com
The Arctic One Foundation
The Arctic One Foundation is a Chesham based charity that helps people with disabilities get involved in sport. The charity holds one of it's events at the Open Air Pool on Bank Holiday Monday in August and this event consists of a swim and Run. Relay options are available where one person does the swim section and one person does the run section.

Winter training and triathlon training
Whether you are a triathlete, or simply interested in training for overall fitness, Chesham Moor is the perfect place for your winter training.
We have everything to train successfully, including a heated outdoor pool (wetsuits allowed), a gym stocked with treadmills, state of the art Wattbike, and expert staff. Here’s how we can help:
As you can wear your wetsuit the pool is perfect to continue training in as close to an openwater setting as possible. We also host Masterclass training on Tuesday and Thursdays 7-8am, and Saturdays 8-9am in the winter – all swimmers welcome. We also sell high quality Speedo pool training aids such as fins and pullbouys to help you get the most out of your training session.
Designed in conjunction with British Cycling this gym bike is packed with many more features than your average road bike. Featuring air and magnetic braking it can replicate just about any desired training scenario, and has the ability to monitor your cycling technique as you ride so you can improve your technique during the session.
Complete your training with hi-tech equipment in the gym which includes treadmills and weights. There’s plenty of evidence to suggest that weight training can help build muscle and prevent injury. Mark Allen from
Triathlon Magazine sums it up:
“All too many triathletes sacrifice strength training in favor of additional swim, bike or run sessions. This is unwise. In fact, a well-executed strengthtraining programme can allow you to carve up to 25 percent out of your swim, bike and run volume while improving performance and enjoying better raceday results.” More info
Our knowledgeable staff can help you create a winter triathlon training programme: get the most out of the Wattbike; give advice on the best weight training; give you tips on how to improve in the pool.
We offer the perfect setting for your winter training, whether specifically for triathlon or otherwise, if you would like some advice, just get in touch by calling 01494 776 975, or pop in and see us for a chat. Full
membership is just £25 per month for use of the pool and gym – tennis is also included.
Background to winter swimmng and triathlon use at Chesham Moor Swim and Gym
We were approached on several occasions from general swimmers asking about the feasibility of an extended season. One group in particular have been swimming at the pool on Thursday mornings 07.00 to 08.00 and didn’t want to stop with the progress that they had made or feel that they had to move to another open air pool.
After the massive success of the London Olympics and particularly the British Triathlon team, we started researching where triathlon clubs swim. We found that these clubs swim at venues such as Heron Lake and Bray lake to name but a few but they stop swimming approximately middle September due to drops in ‘open water temperatures’ (lakes).
Wetsuits are not normally permitted at indoor pools unless it’s an ‘advertised session’ so winter swimming at indoor pools for these clubs is detrimental to their training programme as often there is a six month break in swimming without wetsuits.
We proceeded to email all the triathlon clubs in Buckinghamshire to see if they would be interested in using our facility as a ‘winter camp’.
All wage and chemical costs are covered by the income from the triathlon clubs hiring the pool.
