Take up the challenge with the Chesham Icebergs
If you’re looking to improve your fitness and meet like-minded people then the Chesham Icebergs might be for you. The Chesham Icebergs are a mixed ability swimming group that trains in the pool for fun, wellbeing or for more serious training.
They train during the Masterclass sessions (Tuesday and Thursday 7 to 8am and on Saturday 8 to 9am) and are always looking for new members, so just turn up!
Sessions cost £8, no need to book.
The Chesham Icebergs are always up for a challenge and last year entered the Salty Sea Dog Long Swim at Boscombe, a 3.8km swim. One member of the group, Sandra Levet, completed the swim in an amazing 01:33:57! In 2015 they hope to complete the Bosphorous Cross Continental Swim in Istanbul; a 6km swim in a target of under 2 hours.
A challenge can really help you focus and improve so why not join them? And don’t be put off by the scale of the challenge, many members of the group started out as the 'soggy equivalent of fun runners' and have come on leaps and bounds. Plus the focus really is on the taking part, not the winning.
If you’d like to get involved why not come along to the next session with the group and see how you get on?
“What started out as group of random individuals has really formed into a great group of new friends and co-competitors. I’d recommend anyone with an active interest in swimming to join the Icebergs. The water isn’t anyway near as cold as our name suggests!”
